  • Job Summary

    The Coffeehouse & Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the coffeehouse and catering services. This includes team leadership, menu creation and execution, customer service excellence, inventory management, and coordination of catering events. Catering events include events booked in the Coopers Hall event venue where Vagabond Coffeehouse is located, as well as traveling to other locations where Vagabond Catering is ordered or Rolling Refreshments services are provided. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operations Management

    • Prepare food and drink items for customer orders with attention to quality and presentation.

    • Manage all food and drink prep, including ensuring drink bases, syrups, and fridge stock align with coffee shop inventory standards. 

    • Manage all catering prep tasks based on weekly schedule and todo list.

    • Monitor inventory levels and prepare grocery and supply lists as needed; delegate prep tasks to coffeeshop team members/baristas when appropriate.

    • Receive, unpack, and store all deliveries and groceries in accordance with health and safety standards.

    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area; assist with dishes and general tidiness.

    • Share responsibility for completing weekly and monthly cleaning checklists.

    • Collaborate with the team on all opening and closing duties.

    • Take the lead with any assigned special tasks or projects.

    • Occasionally work a catered event and/or deliver catering orders as needed.

    Staff Leadership

    • Train and supervise coffee shop and catering staff

    • Foster a positive and supportive team culture

    • Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching

    Customer Experience

    • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service

    • Handle customer concerns and resolve issues with professionalism

    • Create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for guests and staff

    Catering Oversight

    • Coordinate execution of catering orders by completing and assigning needed prep tasks

    • Occasionally attend catering events to ensure quality taste and presentation and final execution of orders.

    • Ensure seamless communication with clients and vendors during day of event operations

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience in food service management (coffeeshop or catering preferred)

    • ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or willing to obtain one)

    • Able to work on feet for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

    • Must have reliable transportation

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

    • Proficient in POS systems

    • Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional evenings for events

    • Passion for coffee, food, and creating a memorable customer experience

    Compensation & Benefits

    • $13.00 per hour plus tips during 2 month training period 

      • Raises to $14.25 per hour plus tips after two month training period concludes

    • Unlimited free food and beverages while on shift

    • Friends and family receive 10% off their purchases.

    • Benefits and further pay raises are considered after one year with the company.

  • Position Overview:
    The Barista/Catering Team Member is the first point of contact for customers and is responsible for taking orders, preparing drinks and food items, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting catering service operations.

    Key Responsibilities - Coffeehouse :

    • Take customer orders efficiently and with a friendly demeanor.

    • Prepare beverages and food items according to recipes and standards

    • Deliver orders promptly to guests with accuracy and courtesy.

    • Restock front-of-house supplies throughout the shift.

    • Maintain cleanliness by regularly doing dishes, wiping surfaces, and cleaning off tables.

    • Share responsibility for completing weekly and monthly cleaning checklists.

    • Collaborate with the team on all opening and closing duties.

    • Support special tasks including to-do lists and catering order prep when needed.

    Key Responsibilities - Catering :

    • Assist with setting up and tearing down catering supplies and food

    • Set up tables, buffets, coffee stations, and beverage bars with attention to presentation

    • Greet guests warmly and serve food and beverages in a friendly, professional manner

    • Keep service areas clean, stocked, and visually appealing throughout the event

    • Refill items as needed and assist with guest requests

    • Follow all food safety and hygiene standards during service

    • Represent the Rolling Refreshments brand with positivity, professionalism, and hospitality

    Qualifications

    • Previous food service, catering, or hospitality experience is a plus—but not required

    • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable interacting with guests

    • Able to work on feet for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

    • Must be punctual, organized, and a team player

    • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings

    • Must have reliable transportation and be 18 years or older

    • Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain one)

    Compensation & Benefits

    • $13 per hour plus tips

    • One free 16oz drink per shift and 50% any additional food or drink purchases

    • Friends and family receive 10% off their purchases.

    • Catering Referral Bonus:
